Fundraising Overview
The first and foremost responsibility of the Office of School Advancement is to provide financial support for Catherine McAuley High School.
Gifts make a significant difference in the life of McAuley High and allow us to uphold the values that have enhanced the School's mission for decades. Furthermore, gifts provide donors with the knowledge that they have given back to a meaningful cause; a number of our donors are individuals who have been influenced by the ministry of single-gender Catholic schooling. These individuals strengthen the future of McAuley -- both inside and outside of the classroom.
The Advancement Office oversees all fundraising activities, which includes the Annual Fund through direct mail, personal solicitations and phonathons, memorial gifts, the annual Auction, all major gifts that come through planned giving or bequests, the Sister Mary Denis Society (for those who have made a bequest to the School or who have said the School is being remembered in their estate plans), and the Good Cause Thrift Shop, which is located at 16 Forest Avenue in Portland & 15 Ossipee Trail West in Standish.
The Advancement Office maintains the database for all donors and generates all letters of thanks and gratitude. It publishes the Annual Report, which lists names of those who have given to the School through monetary support or volunteerism. The Annual Report also details monies raised and how these funds are spent.
The second major responsibility of the Advancement Office is to act as a liaison between the School and alumnae from Cathedral High School, St. Joseph's Academy, and Catherine McAuley High School. In fulfilling this responsibility, this office keeps a record of all alumnae, updates these records, and puts alumnae in touch with each other through the publication of the Mercian magazine, which is published twice a year.
A deep debt of gratitude is extended to all who have invested their time and money in Catherine McAuley High School over the years. This continued support allows us to attract and retain the best students, faculty, and staff, thus keeping the spirit of Catherine McAuley alive and thriving.
