Congratulations to Class of 2009 graduate, Catherine Tracy, and sophomore, Nikki Connolly, for walking away with Southern Maine Activities Association’s (SMAA) Doubles Semi-Finalist trophy on May 16.
Held at South Portland High School, the Tennis Doubles Tournament witnessed the talent of McAuley players Danielle LaCasse ‘10 and Paige Hickey ‘11, Mary Scully ‘10 and Priya Ahluwalia ‘11, and Tracy and Connolly, who won three matches on their way to the Semi-Finals, with an eventual loss to the top-ranked team from Portland High. Both players had only one regular season loss at #2 Doubles, finishing the regular season at 11-1.
In related tennis news, in the State Singles Tournament, McAuley was represented by Addie Devine ‘12, Julia Haverty ‘10, and Erin Woodbury ‘09. Devine and Woodbury qualified for the State round of 32 by winning matches over the course of two weekends. Woodbury continued her winning ways, finally bowing out as one of the top sixteen players in the state in a three-hour match against a player from Lewiston.
Congratulations, again, on these impressive accomplishments, and be sure to support the Varsity Tennis Team (9-3) as they begin their tournament play against Windham High School on Thursday, June 4.
