Two McAuley Juniors Nominated for Scholarships

McAuley is pleased to announce two juniors who have been nominated for the University of Rochester’s scholarship program; Laura Duran for the University of Rochester’s Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award and Katherine Fecteau for the George Eastman Young Leaders Award for 2007-2008. The University of Rochester sponsors international programs which recognize high school students’ outstanding achievements in leadership and their academic pursuits. Each year, participating schools may nominate qualified students for these two awards. Selected students are eligible to receive scholarships worth $7,500 per year at the University of Rochester. Frederick Douglass & Susan B. Anthony Award The University of Rochester’s High School Awards Program recognizes high school juniors who demonstrate exceptional promise. The Frederick Douglass & Susan B. Anthony Award is presented to a student who has demonstrated commitment to understanding and addressing difficult social issues. They display leadership and a dedication to community actions and have received strong grades and taken rigorous courses in the humanities and social sciences. Award recipients may be eligible of scholarships if they apply to and are accepted by the University of Rochester. George Eastman Young Leaders Award The University of Rochester’s High School Awards Program recognizes high school juniors who demonstrate exceptional promise. The George Eastman Young Leaders Award is presented to a student who has demonstrated strong leadership experience at school and in their community. Nominees have achieved high grades in challenging courses and are extensively involved in extracurricular activities. Award recipients may be eligible of scholarships if they apply to and are accepted by the University of Rochester.
