Catherine McAuley High School “We the People” State Champion
March 7, 2008 – 6:51 pm http://www.mcauleyhs.org/images/PDF_Icon.gifCatherine McAuley High School was named State Champion of the “We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution” competition sponsored by the Center for Civic Education. The championship was held at the Abramson Center at USM on March 6. Each year, high school teams all over the country spend months examining the principles upon which the Constitution is based. This year the Advanced Placement American Government class of twenty two students clinched the State Championship, advancing them to compete at the national level. On May 2, the class will travel to Washington, D.C. once again to represent the State of Maine in the National “We the People” competition. This is the school’s fifth appearance in the acclaimed academic program that tests knowledge of the contents and application of the United States Constitution in the format of a mock Congressional hearing.
