Catherine McAuley High School, Maine’s only college-preparatory school for young women, will be hosting its annual Open House for prospective students and their families on Sunday, October 19, at 2pm.
Young women of all faiths are invited to our campus at 631 Stevens Avenue, Portland, for a program that will feature current student and graduate speakers, and messages from the President and Principal. After the formal presentation, guided tours will be offered and students will have the opportunity to meet faculty members, coaches, student athletes, and enjoy refreshments.
Prospective students will also have the opportunity to sign up for placement exams, offered October 25, December 6, and January 10. Students who choose to take the October 25 exam will receive a $300 tuition break. The highest scorer on this exam, the High School Placement Test (HSPT), receives McAuley’s President’s Scholarship – worth $500. This scholarship is for the eighth grade student who has shown academic excellence during her middle school tenure and will be awarded annually upon maintaining honor roll status.
Prospective students are also eligible for the Academic Excellence Scholarship, reserved for one eighth grade student who has shown academic excellence by being the top ranking individual on the HSPT and in the 97 percentile or higher nationally. This student will be awarded full tuition for the four years she attends Catherine McAuley High School, provided a grade point average of 3.8 or higher is attained.
