District Chorus Selects Twelve McAuley Students
November 5, 2008 – 3:32 pm http://www.mcauleyhs.org/images/PDF_Icon.gifCongratulations to the following students who have been selected to represent McAuley in this year’s District Chorus group: Sam Dedian, Arianna Nickerson, Abby Parker, Sarah LeRoyer, Rebecca Tanous, Marielle Thete, Julia Furtado, Beth Neault, Jesse Cinque, Allison Gray, Anna Devoe, and Elizabeth McGarvey.
District Chorus is an annual tradition that unites some of the most talented vocalists and musicians in the area. This year, out of the 1200 students who auditioned from 25 surrounding schools, 130 were chosen for the male/female mixed chorus, and 80 were selected for the all-female treble chorus. Impressively, six McAuley students were chosen to be part of each choral group.
In order to be considered for District Chorus, each student must participate in an audition process that includes singing a musical scale, an excerpt of an Italian aria, and some additional lines of sight reading. Tone, musicianship, pitch, rhythm, and vocal technique are important components of the selection process.
