NHS Induction Ceremony Honors Outstanding Students

“I pledge myself to uphold the high purposes of the National Honor Society.  I will be true to the purposes for which it stands; I will be loyal to my school; and I will maintain and encourage high standards of Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character.”

As these words were recited on December 7, 2008, twenty-four students, both juniors and seniors, were inducted into Catherine McAuley High School’s chapter of the National Honor Society.  These individuals join twenty-seven existing members.

Chosen on the basis of exhibiting excellence in four standard qualities — Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character — these students now belong to an elite group of outstanding high school students across the country in an organization that has been honoring deserving youth since 1921.

The induction was led by senior Paige Eggleston, and readings were presented by Allison Walker-Elders, Macauley Kenney, Beth McAllister, and Katherine Fecteau, also members of the Class of 2009.  Musical features included ‘The National Anthem,’ sung by Julia Furtado and Samantha Dedian, and ‘The Circle of Mercy,’ performed by Katherine Fecteau, Julia Furtado, Elizabeth Neault, and Elizabeth Harnois.

Newly inducted members include seniors Rachel Golden, Devan Gorman, Eun Hye Jung, Ji Su Nam, and Marissa Simoneau.  Juniors Hanna Chung, Caitlin Cimino, Stephanie Cote, Margaret Cruz, Emily Daigle, Samantha Dedian, Lauren Fecteau, Cara Fontaine, Grace Fosler, Emily Gajewski, Julia Haverty, Amelia Krahe, Danielle LaCasse, Olivia Locke, Victoria McAllister, Kathryn McManus, Sarah Morrell, Natalie Stone, and Rebecca Tanous also join in NHS privileges.

The aforementioned individuals now unite in membership with last year’s inductees: Madeleine Brodeur, Maria Cook, Katelyn Desrosiers, Kristen Desrosiers, Anna Devoe, Cassandra Donatelli, Jacqueline Dubois, Laura Duran, Paige Eggleston, Katherine Fecteau, Julia Furtado, Richele Grenier, Elizabeth Harnois, Catherine Hendricks, Gina Johnson, Macauley Kenney, Olivia MacKenzie, Elizabeth McAllister, Elise Mercier, Elizabeth Neault, Meghan Nee, Sarah Owen, Tatjana Schneider, Meghan Smith, Catherine Tracy, Allison Walker-Elders, and Erin Woodbury.
