‘Portland Press Herald’ Lauds McAuley Alumnae
January 21, 2009 – 8:36 pm http://www.mcauleyhs.org/images/PDF_Icon.gifThree McAuley graduates and former basketball standouts — Abby Wentworth ’07, Shannon Wood ’08, and Ashley Cimino ’07 — were recently praised by the Portland Press Herald for their noteworthy successes in the college basketball arena.
With compliments to the PPH, Staff Writer Mike Lowe highlighted the three players in the January 15th Sports section:
Sophomore guard Abby Wentworth of Portland is among the leading players for Manhattan College. She is averaging 27.6 minutes, 6.3 points, and 4.0 rebounds. She also has 36 assists and 18 steals.
Freshman guard Shannon Wood of Gorham is making her mark for Bryant University in Smithfield, RI. Wood is playing 16.1 minutes a game with 33 assists and 10 steals. She is averaging 3.2 points.
Sophomore forward Ashley Cimino of Yarmouth has appeared in six games for Stanford University, averaging 2.3 points and 1.7 rebounds.
