Annual May Crowning Honors Our Blessed Mother
May 15, 2009 – 4:49 pmThe entire McAuley community gathered together to honor the divinity of Mary, the Mother of God, in the annual May Crowning Ceremony on Tuesday, May 12.
Seniors Sarah Owen and Jackie DuBois were selected to crown Mary, as the Chorus honored our Blessed Mother with the Crowning Hymn, “Bring Flowers of the Rarest.”
In addition to paying homage to our Mother, a special blessing was also bestowed upon our graduates as they prepare to enter the next important phase of their futures. Nine yellow roses, for the Class of 2009, stood at the feet of Mary as a prayerful reminder of the many blessings they have received, and the many more to come.
From the Closing Prayer:
Mary, we entrust to your Immaculate Heart
nations, communities, families, individuals, and most especially our seniors.
We commend to you the poor and the suffering,
the sick and the handicapped,
the aged and the dying.
We ask you to reconcile those in pain,
and to uplift those who have lost their hope and joy.
Show to those who struggle in doubt
the light of Christ your Son.
Show to all the way to grace and salvation. Amen.
