Congratulations to the following incoming freshmen, members of the Class of 2013, for being selected as scholarship recipients for the 2009-2010 academic year:

Claire Christian of Portland, the daughter of Dwane and Lisa Christian, has been awarded the Catherine McAuley Scholarship.  This Scholarship, valued at $500, is awarded in memory of the Foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, who believed that there was no greater service than the education of young women.  Given to an eighth grader from a parochial school, this Scholarship is based on financial need, academic excellence, leadership, character and service.

Felicia Bridges of South Portland, the daughter of Carol Bridges, is the recipient of the Parents’ Club Scholarship, valued at $500.  The Parents’ Club supports Catherine McAuley High School’s mission to inspire and guide students to reach their highest potential in mind, body, and spirit.  This Scholarship is based on financial need and service to the applicant’s community and / or school.

Molly Miller of Raymond, the daughter of Jack and Kim Miller, has been awarded the Sister Edward Mary Kelleher Principal Scholarship, valued at $500 and given to a young woman for her consistent academic performance, positive attitude, and financial need.  As principal for thirty years, Sister Edward Mary has been committed to educating young women through a rich and value-centered program.  Her extraordinary beauty exists in the quiet way she leads and in the gentle way she cares.

Savannah MacLean-Coffin of Topsham, the daughter of Tracey MacLean-Coffin, is the recipient of the Sister Mary Gerald McLellan Memorial Scholarship.  Valued at $500, this Scholarship is awarded as a memorial to honor Sister Gerald’s thirty-one years of service to the McAuley school community as a teacher, mentor and friend.  This Scholarship is based on financial need, academic excellence, leadership, character and service, and is given to an eighth-grade student from a non-parochial school.
