Good news!
The World Affairs Council of Maine has donated $300 to the Catherine McAuley High School Library as part of a mini-grant within the Council’s Views of the East Program.
Views of the East is a program devoted to instructing Maine’s teachers about issues and lesson plans concerning China, Korea, and Japan.
Rick Colella, the junior member of Catherine McAuley High School’s Social Studies Department, was invited to attend seminars at Bowdoin College in the spring and summer of 2009 put on by the World Affairs Council and the Five College Center for East Asian Studies. Mr. Colella was then given the opportunity to write a mini-grant to obtain materials with an East Asian focus for use by all instructors and students at Catherine McAuley.
The grant will provide valuable resources for our Library and insight relating to East Asia as the Catherine McAuley community strives within its mission of Mercy for greater understanding and integration in today’s world.
